Cinema Verite Festival
The Documentary and Experimental Film Centre (DEFC) organises the annual Iran International Documentary Film Festival, Cinema Verite. The festival showcases the very best of the documentary world in an attempt to bridge the gap between reality and truth.
This collection showcases highlights from the festival over the last few years, including: Finding Farideh”, Iran’s submission to the 2020 Oscars, in which a Dutch-Iranian woman who was adopted forty years ago returns to Iran to search for her family; Exodus by Bahman Kiarostami (the son of late acclaimed director Abbas Kiarostami), following thousands of Afghani immigrants leaving Tehran to return home; and The Grand Lady of Iran, a biography of the woman who married the Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, leader of Iran’s Islamic revolution.
