Deep in South-East Cameroon, the great tropical forest shelters a territory for which colonial powers fought, exploiting through forced labor the prodigious resources of nature. At the heart of this region, the people are now mobilized around an economy of survival.
"I recorded oral history from about fifteen people, recalling the German and French colonization and talking about sorcery, evangelization, and the UPC independence movement. I also met Noël, Ajavon, and Aline, people working for logging companies, cultivating cocoa, prospecting for gold, or prospecting for something to do... We made a film, Tinselwood, documenting the land in the present time. The colonial legacy protrudes from the scenery everywhere." Marie Voignier
